A different look at Fashion as in surreal©jimallen
I have had a short a history of involvement in the area of fashion design, marketing, and photography. I have not always been comfortable with it and have the reputation of being short and rather blunt about things or even opinionated. I found it may have led to emptiness at times. As. someone needs to say at times the imagery that is projected by the theatre of our industry at time seems supurflous.. Much of it is in fact based on sound historic ideas and stories. Read about the historian Karl Lagerfeld, who founded and promoted the Channel we know today. He is a complex giant of history, who understands the importance of exactly that part which is so important to what we know about its exciting beginnings and how Fashion continues to be on the edgy side of creativity. The rest is fluff and although I have been honored to photograph some wonder people and excersize my creative juices, I still cannot bring myself to like it parts of the glitz and glammor. I am shy.. I love the drama and the creation of imagery and fashion is a leading candidate to encourage that idea. Its highly toxic with excitement and PR marketing ideas that can compete with the top athletes and movie stars.. Beautiful people making beautiful statements, and mostly about themselves. They represent many charitable ideas and they do that part perfectly. In Canada we are cultivating our own stars of design with Annie Thomson, Wayne Clark, Alred Sung and a new pack of young talent that is only now, in 2010, being recognized. Egos are ubundant and I am also quilty of having one. It has seen me do very well and get into a lot of trouble at times. I am not scared to voice my opinion as I have one thank God. Here are a few photos of my learning experience as a fashionista baby. I still am a baby who loves to shoot beuaty weather its a wone, beauty, fashion, architecture, animals or anything that dresses up or down for the camera. Our leading edge has to be Alfred Sung who looks like a boy and age less, as has amassed a legendary track record of success. He deserves An Order of Canada and I think will receive it soon enough or did I miss it. He individually made people sit up and take notice of our industry and is a legend in his time. Now we have writers like Amy Vernon who shine on the international stage as well as Ms Jeannie Beker, who reports on evetything insight between Canada to the rest of the world. Ms Beker herself a legend, travels and is a recognized quality journalist. And then we have Bonnie Fuller , Who conquered Ny and the business of not minding your own business is iconographic as well. Ms. Fuller
was the editor of Candian Flare magazine to be suceeded by Lisa Tant. Both women are examples of Canadian fashion culture gone of the deep end of personal promotion and style. Its fair game when you take on profiles that get so much attention in ways an average person would never dream of. Fashion crates the opertunity to be in front of millions and it is perhaps more or less secular in its format.
